This version of the private residence in Malibu California was never built. The client decided to pursue a different house location. The intention of this design was to create the perception of an expansive site, as well as to maximize the size of the building to accommodate an extensive program.
The program requirements included a main house, garage, car port round-a-bout, swimming pool, pool house, guest wing and private screening room with billiard area. The planning strategy was to integrate building, outdoor spaces, private access to the beach and landscape forms through interlocking volumes resulting in an ordered sequence of layers in both the north-south and east-west axes.
