The 18 acre area surrounding the Garnett MARTA Station is filled with history, vacant historic architecture and surface parking lots.We were able to create a holistic picture by looking at the area’s potential and the amount of land that is suitable for development in the area. We began with the parking lots on either side of the Station’s plaza and the drastic topographical change that occurs there.
We were able to maintain, reconfigure and mask the maximum amount of parking spaces by placing them along the retaining wall that creates the plaza. At the same time, the density of the area was increased when residential components were placed over retail spaces along the street. Completed October 2013.
